Following a Social Administration degree at Leeds Metropolitan University, Helen attended Law School and studied the Common Professional Exam in law, thereafter completing her professional exams. Articled initially at SR Dalton & Co. Helen was admitted to the roll of solicitors in January 1988 and then worked in private practice until 28th February 1991 when she set up her own practice Crockett & Co. The practice was initially based in Park Square in Leeds, and in September 1993, the practice relocated to the current site at 260 Harehills Lane, Leeds 9.
Helen specialises in Care Proceedings, in particular those involving serious injury to children, and also conducts some probate work. She is a member of the SRA Children Law Panel and the SRA Advanced Family Law Panel.
Helen has a wealth of experience in dealing with clients, especially those who are vulnerable. She believes that this lies in her empathy and the extensive efforts she makes on behalf of clients. Helen will always fight for her clients. Helen has her own caseload, manages her assistant and trainee solicitors and undertakes work primarily in the field of care, adoption and forced marriage. She is always approachable and down to earth and makes efforts to see clients quickly, if possible.
Amie completed her degree in Law with Criminology in 2007 from the University of Hull. She then completed her Legal Practice Course at the College of Law in York.
She worked for a Wakefield firm for four years where she completed her training contract, qualifying as a solicitor in October 2013.
Amie commenced employment at Crockett & Co in June 2014 and practices in all areas of family law, with a special interest in Care and Domestic Violence cases. She is also a member of the SRA Advanced Family Law Panel.
She currently works part-time.
After gaining a degree and her Legal Practice Course at Huddersfield University, Sophie worked at several other law firms and ran her own case files.
Sophie joined Crockett & Co as a paralegal in January 2017 ,and was very quickly offered a training contract. She is due to qualify in February 2020 and she specialises in private law children and injunction/domestic abuse cases.
Karen completed her degree in Geography and German at the University of Chester. She then went on to complete her Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Certificate at BPP Leeds.
Karen worked at a well-known firm in Bradford before joining us in December 2016, as a Paralegal.
She qualified as a Solicitor in November 2019, and deals with all types of Family Law cases.
Amy completed her law degree at BPP and is studying Criminology alongside her Legal Practice Course, due to qualify as a Family Law solicitor.
Amy joined Crockett & Co in September 2018 as a part-time paralegal and assists our fee earners with their cases. She also has a caseload of Divorce and Domestic Abuse cases.
Our experienced Secretaries have a strong understanding of our legal system. They extensively assist our fee earning staff and enable cases to run smoothly, being responsible for typing of letters and statements, in addition to other administrative tasks.
Our valuable Receptionist is always there to meet and greet clients, and put them at ease when they arrive, in addition to managing the day to day diary system.
Our in house Accounts Team are always on hand to assist with any financial queries.

Michelle re-joined the company in 2014, part time, after working for Crockett & Co several years previously. Michelle was brought on board to practice manage, including HR responsibilities and business development.
She uses her business developing skills to generate awareness of Crockett & Co's services in the community and to build links with other practices, who do not have a Family Law contract. We will be concentrating on working with those centres that have clients that need Family Law advice.
Michelle's goal is to see Crockett & Co go from strength to strength and achieve being a major legal player in the Family Law sector.
